Frequently Asked Questions.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. I am currently in-network with Aetna and Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield. I am also an approved community health provider with the Veterans Administration. There is a lot of variability in what each policy will cover and whom may render treatment. In all cases, in order to bill your insurance, you will require a prescription/referral for massage from your primary care provider. I have an awesome biller than will verify your policy and see if you have coverage. If your policy covers our treatments, we will bill your insurance provider for our services. If our services are not covered under your plan, then you will be informed of alternate payment options for future treatments during your consultation. To start the insurance verification process click over to my patient portal and enter your new patient information. Due to federal guidelines, I cannot accept Aetna retiree plan or Medicare/Medicaid.

I have [insert complicated medical diagnosis] can I get a massage?

My best answer is yes, maybe. I need to know your health history including that complicated medical diagnosis and all medications you’re on before I can schedule you. Though massage is very gentle and can help most people there are some contraindications. There are also some things I am not trained to handle. But, let’s talk before you decide massage is not for you. Our field has a lot of specialties and a lot of variability in education and skills among practitioners. No one therapist can know it all or do it all. So if I’m not the best fit for you, I will help you find a therapist that can best meet your unique challenges.

Do I have to take off all my clothes?

You don’t have to do anything you are not 100% comfortable with. CranioSacral, Visceral Manipulation and Reiki are both performed with clothes on. For massage, I can work with or around any clothing. That said, you will get a much better session if I can work directly on your skin. Only the portion of your body that I am actively working on will be undraped. Everything else will be covered.

Can I bring my own oil/lotion?

It’s not you, it’s me. I have very sensitive skin and I cannot risk a rash with untested lotion. The lubricants I use are hypoallergenic (for both of us), non-comedogenic, and provide the right amount of slip so I can massage you without it feeling like I’m ripping off your skin. I have single ingredient oil, if my preferred lotion won’t work for you. If you’ve had allergic reactions to lotions in the past let me know.

Do you work on children?

I do. I have four children and have a lot of experience working with children. I’ve worked with my own kids since they were infants. A parent or legal guardian must remain on site during the whole appointment. I find that most children really enjoy having a massage experience and respond really well to bodywork. If your child has sensory issues please let me know ahead of time so I can accommodate their needs. For children under 12, I recommend a 45 minute session.

Can you come to my house, lodge, or Air B&B?

Yes. I charge $200 per hour with a two hour minimum for all outcalls. You can have two (or more) people each getting a one hour massage or one person getting a two hour massage. If you have mobility issues, I will do outcalls at my in-studio rate on a case-by-case basis. Please call me to set up all outcall appointments. I don’t accept online bookings for outcalls. Please bear in mind that I am typically booked out a month to six-weeks in advance. If you are visiting Seward for a day or two you must set this up well in advance of your visit. I will not be able to accommodate your request same day.

Do you take same day appointments/walk-ins?

My bookings are all with at least 24 hour notice and I’m often booked out a month or more. Need to get in sooner? You are welcome to shoot me a text and I can put you on my waitlist if I have a cancellation. I never take walk-ins.

Can I book you for my Corporate Retreat/Family Reunion/Bridal shower?

No, I no longer have the avaliability in my schedule to accommodate events. My focus is now on my estabilished clientele.

How much do you charge?

My in-studio, day-of-service rates are $75 for 45 minutes, $125 for 60 minutes, $190 for 90 minutes. My outcall rate is $200 per hour with a two hour minimum. All insurance claims are billed at 15 minute units and are payed out based a contracted rate. My per unit rates are: Massage Therapy (97124) $57.51, Manual Therapy (97140) $54.45, and Nueromuscular Reeducation (97112) $67.29.

What forms of payment do you accept? Do you take goods, in trade?

I take all major insurance, cash, all major credit cards, FSA/HSA cards and I’ll take cut, split, and delivered firewood in lieu of cash.
